This unique handcrafted Japanese Netsuke from the Edo Period (1615-1868) appears to represent a Kitsune - a fox disguised as a priest.
It is in outstanding condition albeit a little worn. It shows a great deal of detail as can be seen on the hands, face, and clothing.
The two holes pierce on the backside would allow the toggle to hang from a Sagemono by a string.
It weighs 16 grams and measures just under 2 inches. It comes from a private collection.
